Legal Question in Family Law in California
Grandparents Rights
What are my rights as a Grandmother. My Daughter lost custody of my 7 year old Grandson. His Father got custody. Now he will not let me see him or call or write. I would like to know what rights I do have concerning my Grandson. I am not sure my daughter lost all of her rights but, I would love to have some visitation of my Grandson. I love him dearly and miss him more than words can say. I have only seen him 2 times in the past year. Please let me know what rights I have. Also my daughter was never married and my Grandson's father changed his name with the school records. How is this possible. My daughter never gave her permission for this matter either. Please let me know ASAP if their is something I can do to start seeing my Grandson on a regular basis. My daughter has a lawyer but he isn't doing much for us. I need to have information about my legal rights. I am a great Grandmother and would love to know my rights. Thalnk you for you time. I would appreciate it if you let me know anything that I can proceed with to start seeing my Grandson.

Re: Grandparents Rights
Grand parents have limited rights. However, your daughter should have parental rights. She should determine why custody was changed to father and take steps to resolve these issues. With her help you can have regular visits with your grandchild. Should that not be do able then join the case and join you in a request for your visitation. Retaining an attorney to assist you in this will increase the possibility of success.
