Legal Question in Family Law in California

Grandparents/grandchild

Our twelve year old grandson has lived with us since birth. A few days ago, his mother kept him when he went to visit her, refuses to return him and has taken him out of the private school he has attended for the past five years. Does not want to live with her nor b taken out of his school. We have been his sole support financially. She also has him in an area with a lot of gang activities. He has always lived in a safe, upscale neighborhood. Not a street type of kid. What rights do we have to demand that she restore his life and education?

Re: Grandparents/grandchild

Go to court and file a petition for guardianship. This is not right for the child. Even if she was entitled to have him back, it shouldn't be done this drastically.
