Legal Question in Family Law in California

Grandson's name change

The father of my 6 year old grandson wants his son to have his last name, mostly to allienate the boy from us, his maternal grandparents. Our daughter (the boy's mother) died in a car accident this past Easter. Can we object to the name change based on allienation?

Re: Grandson's name change

You can object, but most likely the dad will go to court and argue that he has a right to give his son his name. The court is not going to see it your way, and this will just make you guys look bad.

Save the fight for getting visitation. You don't want to alienate the father over something as small as a name change.
