In the great state of california, at what age can a child legally make there own decision on which parent they want to live with, and it be honored by our courts?

18. Prior to that, the child's wishes are just one piece of evidence in the court's determination that it must make by law as to what is in "the best interests of the minor child." Obviously the more mature and aware the child is, the more weight will be given to that factor, but the court must independently make the decision as to best interests.

I agree with Mr. McCormick. There is a big rumor going around that at 14 the judge will place the child with the parent that the child chooses, but that does not have anything to do with reality.
