Legal Question in Family Law in California

Can a guardian and the ward live in two different states for purposes of a guardianship? Would CA courts have jurisdiction if it was the guardian and not the ward that resided in CA?

Jurisdiction in a guardianship surrounds the ward and not the guardian. Obtaining a guardianship order in CA will have the effect of establishing the guardianship once the ward arrives here. To establish a guardianship in another state jurisdiction, you will more than likely have to establish it locally and then you may have to reestablish it here depending on the circumstances involved in your situation.
