Legal Question in Family Law in California

Guardianship

My husband and I have had legal guardianship of his grandaughter since birth, the child is now 3 1/2 years old. Her mother has now petitioned the court to terminate guardianship. She has had little contact or interaction with her daughter in the 3 1/2 years. What are the chances that the judge will terminate the guardianship when we have to go to court? If my husband has a verbal agreement with his daughter to slowly give up guardianship when he thinks the child is ready, will the judge honor such an agreement?

Thank you for any advise

Re: Guardianship

It is very difficult to give advice concerning what is going to happen in a custody case. Every case is unique and turns on a large variety of facts. If you have concerns about the welfare of the child you should get the advice and representation of an attorney who can present all relevant facts to the judge who will make this difficult decision.
