A temporary guardianship is issued when the circumstances require immediate action to preserve the minor's situation. In most instances the guardianship process is timely and immediate action is unnecessary. Normally, additional powers are not requested as they are extraordinary in nature. The guardian's powers are sufficient to address most issues affecting the minor. The guardian has power to obtain medical aide and to make decisions on the minor's educational needs.
