Legal Question in Family Law in California

Is the guardianship still valid?

I left my 2 girls with my mother while I got into drugs, alchol and finally prison. I later learned that she was granted guardianship BEFORE I was arrested, I was never notified of any procedeings. Is this normal?

They have been back with me for over three years.

She came to get them and refused to let them come back. I went to her house, with a police officer, and she presents these gaurdian papers from 1996. He said they were old ,but that was what he was supposed to see.

She refuses to let me visit them, or talk on the phone. What do I do?

Re: Is the guardianship still valid?

The court which entered the guardianship needs to be petitioned with facts indicating that the guardianship is no longer necessary. Don't delay as you may be at risk of losing all parental rights. Please call me directly at (619) 222-3504.
