Legal Question in Family Law in California

Guarduanship/adoption/

Im going to be adopting a baby from a friend of 20 years. She has lived in St.Louis Mo for about 2 months now. The baby is due around May 14 2009. I live in Sacramento California. In order to get the baby to Ca, would I have to obtain a POA to start the court paperwork for adoption? What papers would I need to bring the child legally to Ca? If I need a power of attorney do I order one from MO where she lives or CA where the baby and I will live and what kind POA would be best for my situation? Another issue is she has NO clue who the father is. It happened while she was on vacation in Vegas, would this pose a problem in obtaining POA or Adoption request?

Adoption is a very tricky area of the law, and there are not many attorneys who practice that area. It would be wise to consult or hire w/ an adoption lawyer to assist you in the proper legal method of performing the adoption.

As always please consult an attorney prior to taking any legal action. Good luck.
