guidance on a separation agreement

Should financial , child custody etc all be included in this agreement? Differences between an informal and a legal separation incase of an eventual re conciliation. Tax implications of claiming a legal separation versus one that is informal(i.e one completed by the both parties and notorized)?

Obviously, a settlement agreement should be complete and in writing. Actually, a formal "legal separation" is very rare whereas often people will separate and reconcile several times.
