under what guide lines can the children's father get sole custody when we have a court order of 50/50?

The decision is made in the best interest of the child. A change to sole to the father would probably only be granted if there were a danger to the child. A change in the custodial times is much more likely. You should get a consultation with a child custody attorney. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
