Is half of the check mine?

Before my husband and I were legally seperated--my husband was fired from his job.That was is December, 2001. He just received a ''Termanation'' check for 4,400 dollars. Is 1/2 of that check legally mine? How do I go about getting my half,because he surely is not going to hand over half of it to me!! I found it while putting socks away in his top dresser drawer and made a copy of it then put it back since its not made out to both of us, Should I present it to a court?

Yes you should present it to court. Since he was fired before you separated, at least part of the check would be community property. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
