Legal Question in Family Law in California
Held Hostage by ex's Lawyer
my (soon to be) ex borrowed money to hire a lawyer to intimidate me, now, he is in financial trouble and can't pay his lawyer. I want to finish the divorce but got a letter back from the court saying the lawyer must file substitution of attorney form. My ex can't pay so doesn't want to go to the attorney, but said that if I can find the rigth form online he will sign it.
A) can he file the form without the attroney?
B) the only form I can find on my courts website is one for substitution of attroney - civil, can we use this even though it is not a family law form?

You need to file an order to show cause hearing or prepare a written stipulation. The facilitator's office can help you with either of those. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
