Legal Question in Family Law in California
Hello,
Does the consent for adoption have to be state standard form or It can be drafted by an attorney? I need to make sure I protect myself from any future possible truble and obligations. The standard state form of CA is one-sided and doesn't say anything about stoping child support obligations.
Thank you,

I assume you mean the Cal. Dept. of Social Services form, since there is no Judicial Council form. Since it is not a Judicial Council form, it is not mandatory by state rule. Many counties require it under their local rules or policies, however. The bottom line, though is that there is no reason you need anything about child support in the consent to adoption for two reasons. 1. the form is only signed by the mother, father or both. Parents cannot agree between themselves to cancel support without the court's review and agreement. 2. The law automatically relieves you of child support obligations once an adoption of your child is completed.
