Legal Question in Family Law in California
Hello,
I have a minor dependent from a previous marriage, both my ex and my daughter live in Idaho, I live in California. This has been the case since our split in 2002.
The state of Idaho, Department of Health and Welfare established jurisdiction and ordered support in 2003, which I have been paying since.
I just received a letter in the mail from California Department of Child Support Services saying that a case for support is being opened at the request of the other parent.
My question is, if Idaho has established jurisdiction and has an existing support order in place, can California get involved and change or establish a new support order?
Thank you.

California does not have jurisdiction to change or establish an order, but does have authority to assist with the enforcement and administration of the Idaho order.
