Legal Question in Family Law in California

Hello,

If I lived with someone for 6 years and had a child, does the father have to pay me support and pay spousal support? We were never married during this time.

Your were never his spouse so you are not entitled to any support payments for you. You are entitled to get child support payments.

I would agree with Mr. Shers, but I would add the caveat that there is a situation, theoretically, in which you could get what is known as "palimony." You would have to prove that there was an agreement between you, in what is known as a "Marvin" action. I recommend consult with an attorney, in detail, however, before you bring such an action.
