Legal Question in Family Law in California

My husband was deported in 2006 to Mexico and I do not have contact with him. What would I put as an address when I file for divorce?

You will most likely need to put the last know address for the petition of dissolution paperwork. If you have the information that he has been deported you may have a hard time serving him personally with the petition for dissolution. The alternative to serving him personally is serving him by publication. You can get information on this by speaking to an attorney or going to your local law library. Basically, you will need to publish the summons and petition in a newspaper for a certain amount of time as an alternative to personally serving your husband. You will need to get an order from the court to serve him by publication.

Best of Luck.
