Legal Question in Family Law in California
My ex husband enrolled our son in a new school with out notifying me until after the fact. My son was asked to leave his current school due to behavioral problems. He likes to play power games with me.
We have joint legal custody. Can I file a contempt form or should I just file it with Family court and wait for it to be addressed then?

If your ex is in violation of the court order, you may be entitled contempt motion decidied by a judge in your favor. Contempt threatens the offender with sactions, attorney fees and jail time. A more strategic approach (in an effort to build a co parenting relationship) would be to go to co- parenting counseling. If your ex is unwilling to work with you, then a return to court on reworking your parenting plan may be in order as well as the contempt motion.
