Legal Question in Family Law in California

Yes my husband and i filed for divorce in 88 or 89 we went through all the court procedings and child custody was all resolved with out any problems of any kind. here is the thing he had signed the final paper work however i had not, no real reason just did"nt. anyway im more than ready and there will be no problems with him nor i to sign the final documents now do we need to start over or as i was told i just need to sign the final document he does not but i must go back to either his or my original divorce attorneys in order to do so and his attorney as well as mine are no longer around and havent been in several years. question? what do i do
