Legal Question in Family Law in California

My husband and I along with our 3 kids are planning on moving to New Mexico from CA. My parents are here in CA, and my Dad seems to think that he can file Grandparent Rights and prevent us from moving. There is no custody or divorce and we have a very happy family. So my question is, Can my dad actually get a Grandparents Rights order, keeping us from moving when there is no danger to the kids, no divorce, no custody order, he just doesn't want us moving?

The simple answer is NO!

Grandparents rights have been severely limited by both the U.S. Supreme Court and CA Courts of Appeal.

Even if the got rights, it would NEVEr be to prevent your move under your circumstances and at best be limited visits where you move to.
