You won't need the document for any proceeding in California. You just need to file for a dissolution of your marriage. His admission is more than you will need to obtain your dissolution. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
I suggest actually getting the document, and disagree with Mr. McCrary. The trial judges in family law tend to view such oral accusations as less credible. I suggest you actually contact a lawyer in Tijuana to get a copy of the marriage certificate.
I agree with Mr. Roach. Although, in California we have "no fault divorce" in this situation and you do not need any reason except incompatibility for a dissolution, in this situation it would be a good idea to have a copy of the document. If you have trouble finding an attorney in Mexico, I would contact the American Embassy in Mexico and asking them if they know of anyone who could assist you in Tijuana. Your zip code indicates you're in Southern California and you could probably find attorneys who could give you a referral to an attorney in Mexico.
Good luck,
