My ex husband physicaly abused our son. He was taken by cps, now the courts will not allow me to see him and have scheduled a court appearance. Should i seek legal representation prior to the court date?

Re: What to do

You should immediately seek out and retain an attorney. The situation that you describe is a juvenile court dependency case. These cases move quickly. You seek out an attorney with experience in juvenile court dependency court. You may have a defense to the jurisdictional petition filed by CPS. If the judge finds that the court has jurisdiction it could be several months before your son is returned.
