Legal Question in Family Law in California

Need help with EX

My ex husband quit his job and disappeared about four years ago. I have a case with Ca DSS. They have had no luck in finding him unfortunately. I do know that he is in-touch with some of his family, if not actually living with one of them in Ca. We have lost contact with them because it was to hard on my oldest children to talk with them knowing that they knew were he was and would not tell them. I am not writing to bash my ex, he was a good father to the children (up to this point lol) and they loved him very much. I have had some very serious health issues and have been hospitalized several times, with more to come,so some child support would be helpful. I have hired one of the child support collection agency, no luck. I have had to move out of state or I would be pounding the pavement and knocking on doors when I could to find him. I am just at a loss as to what else I can do to find him. Can anyone give me some ideas that would not cost me a arm and a leg? I have very limited funds as I have had to resign from my job do to the health issues. Thank you for any advice you can give me.
