Legal Question in Family Law in California
My husband is retired from the State of California and part of his retirement is health insurance. If we divorce, will I still be covered by his health insurance?

No. This benefit applies only to his spouse. You would qualify for COBRA coverage. COBRA coverage is a continuance of the presence coverage, but you must pay the entire monthly premium. I have been told that COBRA coverage is very expensive.

You should contact CalPERS about this. Also, if you do have to take COBRA coverage, that will be a factor in a spousal support order.
