Legal Question in Family Law in California

My husband has withdrawn and hidden community property funds. At our preliminary case management hearing I asked the judge if I could used interrogatories for discovery. He said I could, however I don't know which form to use. Also are these questions I write my self or is it a prepared series of questions?

Both. There are family law form interrogatories which can be found at www.courtinfo.ca.gov under the forms tab in the family law section of the pull down menu. You may also submit custom written questions, though the rules on what and how you can ask them are kind of arcane, so you should probably have an attorney help you with that. A fairly recent development in California law, promoted by the Family Law bar, is called limited representation. Under it you can hire an attorney for a limited purpose and they don't have to fear becoming your attorney for the whole case and not being paid, and you don't have to come up with a big retainer. You should be able to find an attorney who can help you that way for a modest fee.
