my husband's devorce papers did not come in finalized until 6 months after we where married is our marriage valid

No, it doesn't sound like it. However, in California it's possible to bifurcate a divorce case. This means that a court could have terminated the marriage first, and then made a later ruling as to how to divide the assets and debts and deal with the other issues. If this happened, and his prior marriage was terminated prior to a ruling on the property and other issues, then conceivably your marriage could be valid. Otherwise, it sounds like you'd need to get another marriage license, and go through another wedding ceremony to have a valid marriage, because a person (your husband) cannot legally marry when he's already married to someone else.
