Legal Question in Family Law in California

Illegal Immigrant just got divorced w/ US Citizen

I have been in the USA for over 10 years. I fell in love and married a US Citizen for 5 years. We bought a house, cars, furniture, and pretty much everything together. Unfortunately, the relationship didn't work out because she didn't want kids and things went down hill from there. We just got divorced. The problem is my ex took everything, including my pay checks I deposited into our joint account. She didn't give me anything at all. She said I do not have any rights and threatened to have me deported since I am under illegal status. She never filed any legal documents for me while we were married and used it against me. Is there anything I can do? I just want my equal share. Please help! Many Thanks.

You should consider consulting with an immigration attorney about filing the appropriate paper work to become a legal resident. If you cannot you become a legal resident then you will have to risk deportation to obtain 1/2 of the community assets. As a part of this process you should evaluate the value of the community property assets and whether or not it is worth the risk.
