Illegitimate Children - Beneficiary Claims On Property After Death of Legal Pare

My father was a prominent international businessman and commited suicide while being indicted in a Los Angeles Federal Facility. He was accused of premeditated murder and several other charges. Because he commit suicide, I have heard that his estate went to his supposed ''family''. I am his illigitimate son. His name is on my birthcertificate and I have several people who can attest that he was my father. I assume his estate and business went to his wife at the time. I would like to know what rights I have, and how I can get a hold of his will if there was one written.
