Legal Question in Family Law in California

Inheritance as sole and seperate property

my wife and i are getting divorced. we have about $200,000.00 equity in our home. The $160,000.00 we put down when we bought the house 14 months ago was from my fathers inheritance to me. He gave it to us two months before he died knowing he was going to die soon and wanted to come live with us until that time. Does the law of the inheritance belonging to me as sole and seperate property still apply even though he was not dead yet?

Re: Inheritance as sole and seperate property

If money given to you as your separate property, it is your separate property. If given to both of you as you indicate, may be considered community asset.
