Legal Question in Family Law in California
My ex in-laws took my son to a dentist of there choice, when I have insurance for my son, and have 50%legal and physical custody shared with his mother. They do not have any legal rights to him. They signed the paperwork at the dentist that I was the responsible party. I was sent to collections by the dentist, after contacting them and telling them I never authorized thus treatment and was unaware of it. Then after it went to collections, I agreed to pay half, which I did, and sent them a copy of our court order and provided the contact info for the mother. They continue to harass me and threaten to garnish my wages. what can I do?

Interestingly, as to collections, they have no right to collect against you as they have no contract with you. The grandparents have no legal ability to bind you to a contract without your permission. Actually, ask the collections for proof of the dentist being in privoty of contract with you. As he cannot give that, then i would get the collections peoples' info and threaten a suit against them for harassment. Good luck!
