Legal Question in Family Law in California

Interest

Had wages garnished for child support. Last payment was 10/18/02. All paperwork recieved had same figure, $3469.04. Paid that amount. Called agency to request final statement. Was told I still owed $300.00+ for interest. Court order does not mention interest. Paid amount on court order. Am I legally obligated to pay the interest?
