Legal Question in Family Law in California
interference - possibly federal
My boyfriend is in an ugly custody battle. I stupidly left a phone message on the Judge's home phone on Fri. 9/1/06.
I had been told that the Judge gave his private number to the ex-wife and so I thought we could have equal time. I did not make any threats and tried to make it a nice supportive phone call (''I know you have a tough decision but Alan has a lot of support on his side'' etc.) and also said something like ''you know from the papers on file that she has admitted the child abuse...(and) she's not a normal mother.'' I do not attend the court hearings and was frustrated and wanted to say these things to the Judge -- When I heard he gave out his number, I ''Googled'' and found his home no. and left that message.
I was then told (by my boyfriend who was told by his attorney) to get an attorney because it was a federal crime and I could be prosecuted. As of Wed. 9/6, 9:30 am, I still haven't heard anything more and nothing has happened yet. I have an appointment with an attorney but I don't even know what my crime was exactly and I don't know how much trouble I can expect to be in. Any advice?

Don't talk to the police and retain an attorney.
