Legal Question in Family Law in California

Interstate petition child support

My child is 13 lives in NY I live in California. I understand a interstate petition is being filed for support. NY state requires 17% for 1 child? What does CA state require I pay and which state rules will my percentage fall under? Furthermore I have joint custody my child stays with me the entire summer, 2 weeks at Christmas, Easter break, and Thanksgiving break. So about 3 months total I suppose. Plus I pay 1/2 the ticket on all of these visits.

What kind of support shall I be asked to pay here?

Re: Interstate petition child support

A petition for child support will be filed in the county in which you reside. The court will use the California computer program to determine child support. Support is based on the gross income of both parents, the actual taxes paid, and percent of time the child is with each parent. There a some statutory costs that can be decucted, cost of medical insurance, mandatory union dues, mandatory and retriement. There is a provision for a hardship deduction.

You should seriously consider hiring an attorney to assist you in this matter as the law on child support is somewhat complex.
