Legal Question in Family Law in California

Intracontinental Bigamy

My son married a Philippine National in the Philippines almost 2 years ago. He just recently found out that she is married to another man & has been for almost 10 years. She lives in the Philippines, he lives at Travis Air Force Base, CA. They have never lived together. What does he need to do to clear himself of this marriage?

Thank you.

Re: Intracontinental Bigamy

File for nullity of marriage here, serve her there, have proof at the hearing that she was married when she married him and that they never lived together.

Re: Intracontinental Bigamy

Because one party was married at the time this marrriage was entered into, it is an invalid marriage and can be ended by annulment, which can be done more quickly than going through a divorce, since there is no mandatory 6 month waiting period.
