Legal Question in Family Law in California
Invasion of Privacy
I am going through a divorce. I became aware that my husband wrote and distributed a letter to his family explaining in much detail what happen in our relationship. I did not read this letter and don't have it in my possesion. But I know it exist. This has caused a huge embarrasment for me. I feel exposed and humiliated. Is there anything I can do to legally?

Maybe, maybe not. Depends on what the letter says, who received it, what effect it had, and whether or not you can prove what the letter says and who received it.

IT IS PROBABLY UNLIKELY THAT YOU CAN BE SUCCESSFUL IN AN INVASION OF PRIVACY ACTION. I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOU ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE COMPETENT COUNSEL IN YOUR CORNER FOR THE DIVORCE ACTION AND IN THAT WAY YOU ENSURE THAT YOU RECEIVE EVERYTHING YOU ARE ENTITLED TO, AND ALSO ALLOW YOU TO CONDUCT SOME DISCOVERY REGARDING YOUR HUSBAND'S INTERACTION WITH HIS FAMILY REGARDING THE DIVORCE.
