Legal Question in Family Law in California
I have a joint custody order between my son's father and myself. It states in the order that neither party can take the child out of state until he is 18 years of age. However, the father has taken him to another state without my permission, and has no plans on returning him. What can I do?

You should consult with your local District Attorneys Office regarding parental child abduction to see if they can assist you in obtaining the return of your child.
This answer should not replace the legal advice you should seek in an office consultation with an attorney skilled in California Family Law.
You should also consider filing a motion with the family law court to review and change the parenting plan. Its apparent that the father's behavior is not in the best interest of the child and a new more restrictive parenting plan may be appropriate.
