Legal Question in Family Law in California

Joint Legal and taxes

I was awarded joint legal custody last year. Does this mean that every other year I can now claim my daughter on my income taxes as well as the portion of the childcare that I pay for? If not, is this something I should speak to the judge about? I pay child support plus half child care and I live out of state. Thanks!

Re: Joint Legal and taxes

You should discuss it with your tax preparer. He or she can complete an analysis using your detailed information. This is a (federal) IRS issue, not a (state) court issue.
