Legal Question in Family Law in California
I got a judgement in Texas against my ex husband in our divorce agreement. However, he has sent me no money including the monthly support or the lump sum I was suppose to receive. I now live in California and he in Arkansas. He has his own business and makes plenty of money, while I am unemployed, out of unemployment, always looking for a job, and now have to declare bankruptcy. How can I get my money from him or make him start making payments? Do I have to get a attorney in Arkansas now?

You may not need an attorney if you have the judgment already. Many states will help a parent enforce a child support order, but be careful to read the fine print, since they often do take some money off the top. In exchange, they will take him to court if he stops paying.
Ms. Beers gives good advice. You should also talk to the Dept. of Child Support Services here in California. They will often chase dead-beat parents out of state for California residents. They may also be able to re-locate the TX judgment to CA to make case management easier.
