Legal Question in Family Law in California

kidnapped or cared for?

The non-custodial father stepped in and took our kids for several extra days while I was in crisis and moving. There were extra delays in my move and after 10 days of his watch, he changed his phone number and has essentially disappeared. I have no contact and I have no exact knowledge of where the kids are... What to do. The grandmother has contacted me once and told me she has them, but would not disclose address.

Re: kidnapped or cared for?

Contact the district attorney's office child abduction division. File a report of child abduction. You will need a certified copy of the court order giving you custody. The DA should then start looking for the children. Withholding a child from the other parent or a parent who has the right to custody is a felony.
