Legal Question in Family Law in California
Large debt/re-possession incurred by my ex-husband.
My ex-husband and I had a jointly owned vehicle. He took that vehicle before the divorce was final and he never paid the payments (for over a year), insurance or registration. It finally got re-possessed over a year later (he hid from everyone) and now the company is coming after me for the difference between the amount we owed and the amount that they auctioned if off for. My credit shows a re-possession and they want to attach my wages and threatened to wipe out my bank account for the money. They are not going after him because they cannot find him. My divorce papers do not say that he had to re-finance to remove my name from the title. I went on his word that he and his new wife would re-finance. He got married three days after the divorce was final. Our house was sold before the divorce was final and the other vehicle we owned jointly, the lease was up and I traded it in and got a car on my own. I need help in getting this debt to be his only and I am unhappy with my original attorney.

Re: Large debt/re-possession
You need someone to look over your final papers and advise you of your options. Any change in the property needs to go back to the court and without seeing your documents I dont know if tat is possible.
