Is it against the law for a mother to have her child sleep in the hallway while she takes the bedroom?

California family law approaches this parenting issue by examining what is in the child's best interest. If the situation you described is an ongoing sleeping arrangement for the child, then is the child being harmed in lacking their own room, bed etc. The best approach is trying to talk with the mother to arrange better sleeping quarters for the child and if she is unwilling to address this problem, file a motion to return to court to have the family court make a determination on this issue.
