Legal Question in Family Law in California

my ex in law took my son and claimed he lives in texas, so they took a temprory custody of him, saying i was not fit to care for him, my ex came into my house and pretended to be trying to reconcile and ran out with our son, I think his mother was waiting in the car and i couldnt get out fast enough , to see that he left without me. Thats when they went to there courts and file some kind of petition, and when i drove from calif. to texas , the judge gave them my son, with just their word of honor that what they say was true, I wasnt allowed to even speak in their so called court. Now i cant hire a lawyer and they are keeping my son from me, in the mean time my soon to be ex was taken to the brig for deserting,so he could show he was responsible parent , they are saying,,, I cant get the california attorney office to do anything, I need help
