Can a lawyer drop you as client for payment discrepancy?

I wanted to know if it was ethical for a lawyer to drop you as a client for non payment after agreeing to represent you, an going on record as my attorney in CA.

Is it ethical for you not to pay the attorney after agreeing to pay the fee? Why do you think the attorney should work for free. You certainly would not think it was unethical if your employer did not pay you.

The post by the previous attorney has merit and is very valid to say the least, however, an attorney cannot unilaterally drop your case once it has been filed without mutual assent or leave from the court to do so, especially if your case can be prejudiced by such conduct.
