Legal Question in Family Law in California

I'm trying to leave my abusive and controlling husband. We have one car that is in both our names. I make the payments. He is threatening me to have the car repossessed or having me arrested for grand theft auto. Can he do that, have me arrested for taking my own car??

Of course you cannot be arrested for taking a car that the DMV shows you as being an owner of.
