Legal Age

A friend of my daughter lives in an impossible situation.

Her family is horribly controlling. This causes her to endanger her health, she is virtually starving herself to death.

She graduated from high school last June. She will be 18 February 18, 2001.

Can she leave her parents home and come to live with my family now and not wait until she is 18? Of course without legal problems, I know her parents will call the police if she leaves, but she really needs to soon.

She needs to file a petition to be emancipated or needs to convince child protective services she is in danger.
