Legal Question in Family Law in California

Legal name change for my oldest child.

I want to change my son's last name from my maiden name to my husbands name.

I have 2 children by my husband. We all have the same last name except my oldest child.

He was raised by me unmarried and we shared the same last name until I married.

We cannot afford to have my husband adopt him we need the child support and meical inssurance.

I am considered low income.

The birth father pays child support,

but does not want visitation.

No contact at all.

Re: Legal name change for my oldest child.

you can file a name change petition in the superior court. any lawyer can do this and the cost is fairly low.
