Legal Question in Family Law in California
Legal emancipation of a minor...
My daughter has been asking about legal emancipation from my husband and I, and she is very interested in making this happen. On the other hand, my husband and I aren't too happy about this. How does the legal emancipation of a minor happen? Do we have to go to court? How old does the minor need to be? Does there need to be a specific reason to be emancipated?

She has to be at least 14 years old. See Family code section 7120 for how to do it. The code section can be found through my web site at www.sbdivorcelawyer.com.
