Legal Question in Family Law in California

Becoming a Legal Guardian of me stepson

Hi,

I am wondering what I need to do in order to become a legal guardian of my stepson. Does his biological father (he lives in Chicago) need to grant me this, or is there some other way to go about it?

Thanks!

If your step son lives in California, you would file for guardianship here in California. His biological father would be served notice of the action in California, and he may or may not appear or object,

I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!
