Legal Question in Family Law in California

legal guardianship and insurance issues

My granddaughter wants to return to California to complete her senior year in high school. The school district requires I be her legal guardian which ends in November when she turns 18. Once I am declared by the court as her guardian, does her father, through his employer-paid health benefits plan for his dependents, have the option to continue covering her or does that cease? And when she is 18 and no longer under guardianship, can my son request she be re-added to his insurnace assuming she will be a full-time college student then?

Re: legal guardianship and insurance issues

The duty of a parent does not end when a guardian is appointed for their minor child. Father should leave her on his medical insurance.
