Legal Question in Family Law in California

Is this legal? If not what to do?

I got married at age 18. It only lasted a week and am now 21 and have no idea where my husband is. Ive been told by a friend that i could put a ad in the paper trying to find him and after a month if there was no reply we would be divorced. Ive looked it up but never found anything on it. Help me. Thanks in advance.

That won't work. You will need to file a summons and petition, then get an order from the court for either service by publication or by posting. One month after the last publication, you can take a default. The judgment will be entered at that time, making you single 6 months after the last publication.

Publication is once per week for 4 consecutive weeks.
